12M Loan is a loan connection service, not a lender. We built 12mloan.com around one conviction: short-term borrowing goes better when the borrower sees several real offers side by side and understands every number in them before signing anything.

Why This Site Exists

The short-term lending market is fragmented by design — dozens of small lenders, each licensed in a different patchwork of states, each pricing the same borrower differently. For the applicant, that fragmentation used to mean serial applications, serial soft checks, and a decision made from whichever single offer arrived first. We built a simpler path: one five-minute request, distributed to a network of independent licensed lenders, with the responses returned for side-by-side comparison. The borrower keeps every decision; we keep none of them.

The second half of the mission is the content. More than forty pages of this site — the rates guide, the glossary, eighteen long-form guides — exist to make the numbers legible, including the uncomfortable ones. Short-term installment credit is expensive; we say so on every page that prices anything, publish a representative example in the footer of all of them, and write guides whose honest conclusion is sometimes "do not borrow for this." A connection service that only connects is a funnel. We are trying to be a resource that happens to connect.

How We Make Money

Lenders pay us a referral fee when a request submitted here becomes a funded loan. Borrowers pay us nothing — no request fee, no comparison fee, no obligation at any step. That compensation model is described in full on the advertiser disclosure page, including what it does and does not influence. The short version: it pays for the site; it does not set any lender's pricing, and it does not decide which offers you see — your state and the lenders' own underwriting do that.

What We Ask Lenders For

Participation in the network is not neutral. Lenders reaching borrowers through this site operate under the licensing of each state they respond in, disclose the federal Truth-in-Lending numbers — APR, finance charge, total of payments — before any signature, and take no fee from any borrower before funding. Those are floor requirements, not marketing: the two behaviors we most warn readers about, advance fees and guaranteed-approval promises, are the two we screen hardest against.

The Numbers Behind the Service

Since launch, more than 80,000 customers have used the service to request loans between $500 and $5,000. The 38 written reviews they have left — averaging 4.5 out of 5, published unedited including the critical ones — live on the reviews page, and the patterns in them shape the site: the eligibility guide exists because of verification-friction complaints, and the state-pricing candor throughout exists because reviewers asked for it.

Who Writes the Guides

Four writers with stated backgrounds in lending analysis, credit counseling, loan-product research, and financial editing produce the guide library; each guide carries its author's name and bio. Their standing instructions: label every figure an estimate unless quoting law, put the expensive-credit warning wherever it is true, and never recommend borrowing where a free alternative plausibly works. Corrections reach them through the contact page and are made without ceremony.

Where to Start

New to the product, start with how it works — five steps, honestly annotated. Ready to compare, the request form takes five minutes. Just researching, the guide library asks nothing and links to no form until you do. All three doors stay open; which one you use, and when, was always the point of building this many.
